Your day

Where it fits

On the desk while you work. Beside the bed before lights out. In your bag when you travel. It goes where you already are.

Where it started

Twenty minutes where nobody needed anything from me.

In 2020 my marriage ended. I had a picture in my head of how it would go — the house, two parents raising two beautiful girls under one roof. That picture came apart.

What followed was the ordinary, unglamorous work of rebuilding. Two little girls who needed me to be steady. A house to keep running. And somewhere in all of it, not one moment in the day that was actually mine.

If you have been through something similar you will know the specific tiredness I mean.

It isn't dramatic. It is just relentless.

Nearly six years, before I ever sold one. I mention that because every founder says they use their own product. Most started the month they decided to sell it. I can tell you exactly what mine was doing in December 2020, because I was already doing it.

The device

What it is

A rechargeable light you hold about ten centimetres from your skin for ten to thirty minutes.

Twelve LEDs — six at 660 nm, which you can see, and six at 850 nm, which you can't. Press one button and put it down; it stands up by itself. When the timer ends it goes back in its case.

  • No appointment
  • No drive across town
  • Nothing to reorder
  • No UV — red and near-infrared only
  • Your own house, at whatever hour suits you
  • Portable. Take it wherever you go.

The routine

How a session goes

Three things to remember, and that's the whole routine.

JOINT CARE20:00

Pick a setting

Six are already worked out. One press sets the output and the timer, so there's nothing to configure.

10 cm

Ten centimetres away

Stand it on a table or hold it. Closer is more intense over a smaller area, further is gentler and broader.

Eyes closed

Always, for anything on the face or head. Goggles come in the box for exactly this.

Ten to thirty minutes, two or three times a week is typical, and daily is fine. If you go more than once in a day, leave at least six hours between sessions.

The settings

Six settings, already worked out

Each one fixes the red and near-infrared output and the session length. Custom mode lets you set all three yourself, plus pulse.

The output

How much light actually lands on you

Irradiance is measured in milliwatts per square centimetre, and it drops away fast with distance. A brand quoting one big number without a distance is telling you almost nothing. Here are ours, at the three distances you'd actually hold it.

The device held in one hand in daylight, LED side facing the camera, showing its twelve LEDs

Held at 5 cm 10 cm 15 cm
Red, 660 nm 23 16 8
Near-infrared, 850 nm 35 24 14

All figures in mW/cm². Measured on-axis at the centre of the array, 100% output, pulse off. Typical values, ±20%.

The honest comparison

Why not the cheap one

It's a fair question.

The honest answer isn't that ours is stronger. It's that you can check ours.

General category comparison, not a claim about any particular competitor. Panels and handhelds do different jobs — a panel covers more of you at once, a handheld is the one that survives a busy week.

The light

How far each one goes

A wavelength is the distance from one peak of a light wave to the next, in nanometres. Shorter waves are absorbed nearer the surface. Longer ones travel further before they scatter. That's why 660 and 850 are used together rather than one or the other.

660 nmred, you can see it850 nmnear-infrared, invisible660 fades out here850 reaches hereEpidermisDermisHypodermisouter layerwhere light scatters mostfat and connective tissue0 mm2468depth into skin

Illustrative, and approximate. How far light travels varies with the part of the body, skin tone and the tissue it meets, and layer thicknesses differ across the body. This shows the relationship between the two wavelengths, not a measurement of your skin.

Where they sit on the spectrum

Both are at the long, low-energy end — the opposite end from ultraviolet.

UVburns, tansvisible light660850infrared, invisible300 nm5007001000higher energylower energy, travels further

660 nm and 850 nm are both non-ionising. They carry far too little energy to damage DNA the way ultraviolet does — neither tans nor burns. That's a statement about physics, not about outcomes. Read the safety notes further down before your first session.

Portable

It comes with you

244 grams, in the case it ships with. The battery is 18.5 Wh, comfortably under the 100 Wh limit airlines set for cabin baggage, so it flies in your carry-on.

Two hours of runtime on a charge means a week away needs no charger at all.

Carry-on only. Lithium batteries aren't permitted in checked luggage.

The standard

Made properly, and we can show you

None of this tells you what red light will do for you. It tells you the thing in your hands was built and tested to a standard, which is more than most devices in this price band can say.

ISO 13485 + MDSAP

Built in a facility certified for the design and manufacture of LED therapy devices, audited against Australia's Therapeutic Goods (Medical Devices) Regulations. Intertek, valid to July 2028.

Electromagnetic emissions

Tested to EN IEC 55015 and EN IEC 61547, in both charging and battery modes. Overall pass.

RoHS

No restricted hazardous substances.

UN 38.3 battery

The lithium cell is certified for air transport. Every test passed.

Output published

Measured at three distances and printed in the manual, not just on this page.

Batch traceable

A batch code on the base of every unit. Quote it and we can trace your exact production run.

Reviews

What people say

Before we opened for orders we gave devices to a group to test and report back honestly — family, friends, and independent testers with no connection to us. Everyone got a device free, nobody was paid, and nobody was told what to write. Those reviews are marked as collected from a store visitor rather than a verified purchase, so you can pick them out. We don't delete the critical ones.

There are only a handful so far — the first devices are going out now. We send one email a fortnight after your device ships, and we only ask once.

Questions, answered

Questions

When will it arrive?+
It's in stock in Queensland. Orders dispatch in the order they come in, and you'll get an Australia Post tracking number the day yours goes out. Brisbane and the Gold Coast usually have it in 1–2 business days, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra in 2–4, and Perth, Hobart and Darwin in 3–6. Regional and remote areas can take a little longer.
Why $499?+
$499 is the full price, and it includes everything: free shipping Australia-wide, the red light goggles, the travel case and the USB-C cable. Nothing to add on at checkout. A clinic-grade panel runs $700–3,000, and you can't put one in your handbag.
Can I pay in instalments?+
Yes. Choose PayPal at checkout, then Pay in 4 — $124.75 at checkout and three more fortnightly, no interest and no late fees from PayPal. Pay in 4 is a continuing credit contract provided by PayPal Credit Pty Ltd, available to Australian residents on eligible purchases under $2,000, subject to eligibility criteria and a suitability assessment, so approval isn't automatic. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay are all available too.
What if I don't love it?+
You have fourteen days from delivery. Use it properly, and if it isn't for you, email me and send it back complete in its box for a full refund of what you paid. Return postage on a change of mind is yours to cover. Before it ships you can also cancel your order for a full refund just by asking. Faults are a separate matter: they're covered, and we pay the postage.
How often, and for how long?+
Ten to thirty minutes, held five to fifteen centimetres away — fifteen minutes at about ten centimetres is where most people settle. Two or three times a week is typical and daily is fine. If you go more than once in a day, leave at least six hours between sessions.
Do I need eye protection?+
Don't look into the LEDs. The red is bright and the near-infrared is invisible, so you won't get the instinct to look away. Keep your eyes closed for anything on the face or head. A pair of red light goggles comes with every device.Liza wearing the red light goggles that come in the box
Who shouldn't use it?+
Check with your doctor first if you're pregnant, have active or undiagnosed skin lesions, a history of skin cancer, recent surgery on the area, or take any medication or supplement that increases light sensitivity. If you have epilepsy or any photosensitive condition, don't use Pulse mode without medical advice — pulse is only available in Custom mode, and all six presets run with it off. Children only with adult supervision.
How long does the battery last?+
About two hours of continuous use — we bench-tested 146 minutes. Roughly four thirty-minute sessions, or ten to twelve short ones. It recharges in 1.5 to 2 hours. It can't be used while charging.
Can I take it on a plane?+
Yes, in your carry-on. The battery is 18.5 Wh, well under the 100 Wh cabin limit. Never in checked luggage — lithium batteries aren't permitted in the hold.
Is it waterproof?+
No. Wipe it with a soft dry or lightly dampened cloth. No solvents, alcohol or abrasive cleaners, and never hold it under a tap.

Before your first session

  • Do not look directly into the LEDs. Keep your eyes closed during any session on the face or head, and wear the supplied goggles.
  • Do not use on or near the eyes of infants or young children. Not a toy — children only with adult supervision.
  • Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant, photosensitive, taking anything that increases light sensitivity, have active or undiagnosed skin lesions, a history of skin cancer, or recent surgery on the target area.
  • Do not use while charging, or if the lens, housing or cable is damaged, or if the battery appears swollen.
  • Not waterproof. Stop use and contact us if the device becomes uncomfortable to hold or your skin becomes irritated.
